Short answer: Wine Barrel furniture can be bought from manufacturers that sell direct online, from local furniture makers or from large marketplaces. For a raw barrel to build with, try wineries, distilleries and barrel brokers. Wherever you shop, buy from a seller who identifies the barrel each piece came from and gives you its dimensions. Oak Wood Wine Barrels is a Houston family business that offers handmade pieces from solid oak Bordeaux-type Wine Barrels online, from a Stave Candle Centerpiece ($24.95) to a Barrel Game Table Set ($7,875), with free shipping within the continental U.S.

Where can you buy Wine Barrel furniture?
From four types of sellers. Each type suits a different kind of buyer.
| Where | Best for | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| A barrel furniture maker's own online shop | Finished pieces with full specs, shipped to your door | Shipping cost, delivery method, stock |
| Local makers and furniture shops | Seeing the oak before you pay | Smaller selection; ask the same questions |
| Big marketplaces and home stores | Browsing many styles at once | "Barrel" can describe a look, not the material |
| Wineries, distilleries, barrel brokers | A raw barrel for your own project | Cleaning, finishing and hardware are on you |
If you are going to build something yourself, Where to buy oak barrels for wine making? covers sourcing a barrel direct from a winery. If you want furniture that you can use on the day it arrives, the shortest route is a maker's shop, because the listing should tell you exactly what you are getting.
Where can you buy barrel tables?
From any of the sellers in the table above. There are a few distinct types of finished barrel tables, so it helps to know which type you want before you shop. This is how each type appears in the Oak Wood Wine Barrels catalog:
- Side table: the Hoop Side Table ($391.50) has an oak Wine Barrel top resting on the metal hoops of the barrel; it’s about 21.7 inches across and 17.4 inches high.
- Coffee table: the Half-Barrel Coffee Table ($783) is a half barrel with a wood and glass top, 35.4 inches in diameter and 20.3 inches high, with space inside to display things.
- Larger coffee table: the Barrel Coffee Table ($1,169.10) is 41.3 × 33.5 inches and 16.9 inches high, with a removable top and storage.
- Game and dining table: the Barrel Game Table Set ($7,875) features a 55.3-inch table with a velvet poker top, a removable dining top and six barrel chairs.

Where can you buy barrel bars?
The same places, but with bars, a good listing matters most, because "barrel bar" may mean a whole barrel with cabinet storage, a closed barrel with a top and foot rail, or just a top for a barrel you already own. Oak Wood Wine Barrels carries all three:
| Bar type | Example | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Barrel cabinet | Bar Cabinet, 27.4 in. across, 37 in. tall | $1,237.50 |
| Closed barrel + top + foot rail | Bistro Pub Set, with 0, 2 or 4 stools | from $1,404 |
| Cabinet bar + top + stools | Multi-Use Bar Set, with 0, 2 or 4 stools | from $1,476 |
| Two barrels | Double Bar Set, with 0, 4 or 8 stools | from $2,808 |
| Top only (your barrel) | Round Top with Glass Center, fits 53–59 gal | $595 |

How do you spot real barrel oak?
Look for these five signs. If a seller cannot answer questions about them, they are probably selling barrel-style furniture: new wood shaped to look like a barrel.
- The listing names the barrel. It should say what kind of barrel (Wine or Whiskey) and what wood it is. A Bordeaux barrique is approximately 225 liters or 59 gallons. A standard American Whiskey Barrel is approximately 53 gallons.
- The size fits a real barrel. Oak Wood Wine Barrels’ full-barrel pieces are about 27.4 inches in diameter and 37 inches tall, the size of a Bordeaux-type barrel. A “barrel” cabinet much smaller or larger than a real barrel raises a question.
- The staves curve. Real staves are curved, wider in the middle than at the ends. Straight, identical boards indicate a lookalike.
- It shows a working life. Red wine stain on the inside faces, char inside a Whiskey Barrel, marks where hoops sat, and sometimes the bung hole. Some of our chair listings actually say that not all the chairs will have the hole in the back.
- No two pieces match exactly. Retired barrels are all different, so honest listings say the shade of the oak might vary.
One more question to ask: what is the top made from? Real barrel furniture is often made with a base of an oak barrel and a separate top. For example, our round tops are made of fir, wire-brushed to highlight the grain, and most have a glass center.
What should you ask a seller before you buy?
The same 3 things phone customers ask us most. Is it in stock? How fast does it ship? How is it delivered? Then add these:
- What's included? Some pieces are parts. The Round Top and the DIY Bistro Kit do not include a barrel, and the Foot Rail is the rail only.
- What's the finish? You will find it on each of our product pages, and most pieces are finished with spar varnish for protection.
- Is assembly needed? All steel-leg tables and the hydraulic stool base require some assembly, and instructions are included.
- What does shipping cost? Free continental U.S. shipping on all items in this post.
